This is very good, Arnoldo. I especially like the line "not even to be a sieve for winds". Of course it's terribly sad, but you've carried across your message deftly. Thanks for sharing. Sylvia Evelyn

I like this very much Arnoldo.. It is good vvery good...... It remind me of a story my Palestinian nephew told me... about what was meant to be a short trip to visit his sister in the city but turned into a four hour trip both ways.... Hours spent...

Days of Domination

No todos los días aparezco

Hay semanas y sazones enteras

que soy invisible

nadie me ve

nadie me reconoce

mi existencia no califia

ni de colador de cientos

Soy un viento entre los vientos

pero cuando llego a la frontera

me piden documentación

para verificar que existo

y que no soy invisible ilegal

aparecido mojado

por la ciudadania imperial

There are days when I do not appear

There are entire weeks and seasons

that I am invisible

no one sees me

no one recognizes me

my existe… Continue

Migrant Sayings

Migrant Sayings

1.
I was born in Africa,
Wandered, awoke in Aztlán
Fled Mesoamerica over several suns
The U.S. buried me
Worked me to death
till I was no longer Mexican
no longer speaking
in my quilts of warmth, tenderness, the shelter of my dreams.
My back hunched over
biometrically perfect
for stoop labor
planting seeds
sewing dresses
cleaning offices
washing dishes
nailing walls together into house, into homes
harvesting grapes, maize, or beans

Farewell Mahmoud Darwish

Sinan Antoon recalls the voice of a nation

Very few poets become the voice of their nation and even fewer succeed in transcending that to become much more. Mahmoud Darwish (1941-2008) was that rare bird who crossed many skies and horizons. His death last week, following complications from open-heart surgery in Houston, Texas, ended an epic life and interrupted a stunningly creative and prolific output, especially in… Continue

arnolodo... thank you i will read your other poetry......with pleasure...:-)

one day inshallah the indians and the palestinians shall get justive for the crimes that have beeen commited agaisnt them

But arnolodo I believe that people who are put through such trying situations get given gifts that other societies have lost,,,

courage, wisdom, strength of character, ithe ability to care for others even though the suffer so much....ntrinsic things that are more valuable than money or pocessions...:-)

The wporld could learn many vvaluable lessons from palestinians and Indians....

Welcome to the Poets for Human Rights. I visited your Myspace Page and saw your poem about living between wars. It was great! You ask at the end "what wars have you lived between?" My own answer would be that I lived the day to day battle to make a living and Bush's War on the Poor.
