I love the image as well as the beauty of arabic script. Sadly, I can't understand anything... ;-) Nor the comments. Perhaps you could just give me an idea of what the poem is about; not necessarily a translation, just an outline, yes?

Wonderful homage to an incredibly beautiful and interesting city. I've actually been there, many years ago. Got lost in the Grand Central Market! But I brought home beautiful memories as well as purchases. To think it was once the papal center, in...

About Me:
I have a degree in Philosophy from "Universidad del Salvador", Buenos Aires, Argentina. I also have a terciary degree in Journalism from "Instituto Superior Mariano Moreno", Buenos Aires, Argentina. I did a course in Counselling and have workshopped in Poetry and Literature with several groups, as well as Online. Presently I'm on the Management Staff of http://www.mosaicmusings.net (nick: Psyche).
I grew up in Argentine Patagonia, on an apple farm, and went to a small rural school, 5 kms. away. On bicycle, horseback or walking! Now I live in Buenos Aires, but intend to retire in Bariloche, Patagonia.
Nowadays, apart from translating to earn extra money, I'm a "protest poet". I write poems about devastation, exploitation, discrimination, deforestation, anti-war, etc. I have an English poetry collection published titled "Patagonia Lost", on sale at http://forums.mosaicmusings.net/index.php?showtopic=10597&st=0

Presently, I'm working on a Spanish version. Of course, I also write poems about love, romance, loss and other life experiences! I have a blogspot in Spanish, and also a bilingual MySpace.

Favorite Poet or Author:
I don't like classifying. How can I compare Dostowievsky with Dickens? I enjoy classical and modern poetry and books, of a highly diverse nature.

SLIDESHOW BELOW

In my short slideshow, you'll see some pics of Argentine Patagonia, but I mainly uploaded it to show a kite workshop being conducted for 'children at risk'. These children are descendants of Mapuche (Earth People), first dwellers of Patagonia. They are living under terrible conditions and receive no help from our government. They learn a great deal doing creative activities such as building kites and then flying them. Due to their situation of abandon and discrimination, they drop out of school, take to the streets, drugs and child prostitution. ONG's do a lot to help them, but it's never enough.
When I have more time, I shall put my photos in proper order... hopefully.

FICTIONS (Villanelle for 21st. Century)

From reckless fictions of the mind,
world’s martial nations still depart:
therein the falsehood of Mankind.

They feign cruelty to be kind,
chastened with tears and severed heart,
from reckless fictions of the mind.

Shouting glory, yet beauty-blind,

A POET'S VOICE

I cannot stop the wind from blowing
nor still the ocean’s tide;
a rose will bloom without my knowing
to adorn an Autumn bride.
Yet I can stretch a loving hand
to embrace a frightened child
by greed its rights denied.

I cannot halt empires from growing
nor make the rich provide;
a wa

Redemption

A vision struck me in the face
with the force of revelation:
I saw Nature’s door-keys stolen
from Ancient Guardians of the Forest.
Pacts indifferent and blank stares
fouled the air behind Mapuche backs.

I was stumbling up the southern cordillera,
a giant natural

LAKES OF THE DEAD (hydroelectric dams' artificial lakes)

Stamps of death upon the land,
eerie mirrors reflect a blameless sky:
Reason’s catafalques for greed,
a sort of lying in state of blood money.
Speaking with the lip of insanity,
officials promise sailboats and sports,
wave projects for holiday resorts,

Hola Val!
Namaste, Val..

Wow...! What beautiful photos, thanks so much... Maybe a magic carpet would get me to Egypt? I keep looking at this delicate blue bird and remember the story The Blue Bird, which i read as a youngster. And I read many magical, fantastic stories from the East when I was a child. Loved them! But I can't read in Arabic, a shame... ;-(
The photo above is of Argentine Patagonia...bye!
