Boom! boom!! is now silent, Heralding Epilogue of warfare. Quietness, Wind of unease Pervades the swamps. Fishes and shrimps are dead Inside waters mixed with oil. Crabs feast On the dead Washed ashore of Once revered rivers Made red by bloodletti...

DO THEY KNOW IT'S CELEBRATION TIME?

Do they know
Its christmas?
All innocent folks
In jail awaiting trial,
Denied justice and dignity,
Denied rights and privileges.
Do they know
Its new year?
All employable unemployed,
Denied jobs,
Denied daily bread.
Do they know
Its sallah?
All pensioners
Struggling in vain
To receive pensions.
Do they know
Its celebration time?
All men
Rushed to warfronts
To massage egos
Of war mongers.
Do they know
Its season of joy?
All widows,
All fatherless
Adorned in mourning apparels.

(This poem is dedicated to all persons on the fringe of existence)
