The Matyr

Our final moment
One last kiss
My beloved your skin
So cold to my lips
Blinking away my tears
My sadness in denial
For on your face
By Allahs grace
You wear a matyrs smile
Gentle hands
Pull me away
Your brothers in arms
Will bury you this day
Lifting you upon their shoulders
They carry you away
I will miss sitting at your knee
While we sang Hamas nasheeds
I watch you go now my beloved
I will follow in a while
And on that day
With Allahs grace
My lips a matyrs smile.

Al-Khansa, thanks for your kind words. The poem was written back inb 1992. I believe that immigrants, Indians -- the original peoples of my continent called in English America -- and Palestinians that we'll almost need a world revolution so that we can get back our place in the natural world. I have some other poems called "The B Word" on this idea, you can read at www.myspace.com/arnoldogarcia

i hope you post your words too. We need everyone's imagination, intuition and intelligence to solve the problems of borders.

peace,
arnoldo
