Words of Freedom

How to Be a Rainbow
A Poem for Mary Shuttleworth

Spread limbs
& wings
far and wide
stretch beyond limit
embrace all
that comes
at you.

Do not doubt
for a moment
your immortality
live life
in one breath
unreformed.

live life
as if
the next moment
was your last…

live life
as if
the next moment
was your first…

work all the colors
into your repertoire
leave nothing out

-reflect on this color
of life…

beautifully done! I particularly love the lines "...live life in one breath unreformed" rock on!

Live Free…

In speech and deed
By here and over there
Of intimidation and fear
In deep thoughts and creed

Uttering a word in season
Willing always to decry-
All ways weak and wry
In modesty and reason

Whether Tutsie or Jew
On the hilltop or wayside
Whether widow or bride
Rewarded or denied of due

Earth’s face shall stay uneven
I know no other way to be!
